I have been going to Satay on the Road off and on for the better part of 15 years and have never once in that time had a disappointing meal. The food is always fantastic and despite having tried a myriad of different items I always come away from Satay satisfied. Of particualr note are one of the appetizers and one of the mains. First, the appetizer. Golden Baskets. They should call them by their full name...Golden Baskets of Amazing Tasty-ness with Just the Right Amount of Flavourful Spicy Goodness. I guess there isn't enough room on the menu for that though. These and the spring rolls are the perfect combo to kick off your meal. The second is Cashew Nut Chicken. I still hold Satay on the Road's Cashew Nut Chicken up as the gold standard for this dish. On a recent visit it made me miss Toronto...it is that good! The drinks list is kitschy too...they have their cocktail menu on those paper place-mats that used to be all the rage back in the '70s. Ah nostalgia. Anyway, located in the heart of Bayview Village...the area not the mall...Satay on the Road is a must dine for anyone who loves Thai and Malaysian food! Lire plus

I first visited Allen's back in the 80's, not long after it opened, and I was instantly smitten. So much so, in fact that I moved into the neighbourhood! First I was a regular, then a nuisance, and finally a piece of furniture. I finally moved back to Markham in 1998, and cannot justify going anywhere south of Steeles Avenue without stopping into Allen's for lunch. The food is imaginative, superbly prepared, and so delicious, that even when I'm full, I often look at the menu again, just to see what I'll be ordering on my next visit! And the patio? Had dinner there on a Sunday night recently. I have walked by many times not realizing how nice the dining room was. There is a fun bar area up front that I noticed walking by , but I wasn't expecting such a nice room in back. Started with oysters, followed by a veal dish. I had reservations about going to another Wimpy's, after having such a disastrous experience at the one in my town. The boyfriend however had eaten here many times, and told me that he'd really enjoyed it, and we needed a place we could take his year old son and all of us be comfortable. I was quite happy with my experience at this Wimpy's. The food was good, portions huge, service prompt (though she was carrying on a conversation with the family at the table beside us every time she came to our table). No complaints really. Lire plus
