Hands down great food eats here but long waits and your entire party needs to be present or they will not seat you, fair enough. What a wonderful place for lunch this past weekend! We sat on the small, yet sunny patio out front and loved it. The Gooey Cheese Griller sandwich, the vegetarian sandwich, the spinach salad and french onion soup were wonderful. So yummy! And on Saturday's sangria pitchers are on special...and they were good! Not too juice tasting/sweet like most other places. The only downfall I would say is the bathroom - it was not very clean and wasn't a great way to end lunch! Immigrating can be a stressful experience; there is reams of information available to you and it is often conflicting. It is also hard to talk with CIC as their lines are often busy and they cannot, understandably, offer advice. My wife and I used to love strolling the city and ending up at the Irish Heather for a pint (or three) and some fantastic authentic pub fare. This was in their original location. Then, we had a family and it took us a while to get back but we finally got back to check out their new digs and new menu. While the beer selection is still fantastic we were disappointed in the overall vibe. The food was still good but the value took a bit of a hit from their original location. Whole Foods opened their first location at Park Royal and I eagerly awaited their arrival at Cambie Street when i saw the sign go up that they were locating their. Little did I realize that this meant the demise of my favourite Capers location just up the street at 16th and Cambie. For that reason it has taken me a long time to warm to this store. This store does not have the same vibe as the West van store but I think that is partly due to the space they have to work with. That said, they carry the best selection of organic and natural and special diet products in Vancouver. The prices are reasonable, if not a little steep at times but they often have specials that take the bite out of the grocery bill a little. They are the store to buy organic dairy products as the organic milk is the cheapest in town on a daily basis. The meat department is a full service butcher and everything is clean and fresh looking...that said the meat can tend to be a bit pricey. The bakery is good and the ready to go foods are always yummy. All in all this is a pretty good store and great for those of us who try to maximize the organic foods that we eat. Lire plus
