Still going at least once a week ... still awesome in every way ... I believe I have tried most things on the menu now and have yet to be disappointed. Absolutely addicted to the Eggs Benedict.
I have visited the Carleton Place location three times now since my move to Carleton Place and with various people. Every one of us loved the food--I went once for breakfast and twice for lunch. I would highly recommend this delicious, wholesome and well-presented food and look forward to more delicious food. It was even great for one of my friends who needs gluetin-free--with lots of choice for her as well. Thanks!
Serving food on cold plates defeats the purpose of a hot meal when it arrives barely tepid. One expects the cheese on a crepe to be melting. We expected much more!
I LOVE the GF company. I've been going there for years and have never been dissapointed by the food or service.
Petra's an amazing chef, and always makes the highest quality fresh food.
It has the feel of a funky downtown Ottawa cafe, but with all the great main courses of an upscale resturant.
The service there is slower - this is not a resturant to dine in if you're in a rush! But it isn't meant to be a quick meal - you're supposd to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
The waitress' are always so polite and wonderful - they happily accomodated two children, and made the dining expierence as comfortable as possible.
If you're in CP you have to try this place out.
I'd recommend their mini crepes, samosa's, eggs benedict - or really anything else on the menu!

I've been a regular for 12-13 years and have never had a bad experience. Fantastic food and always fun. Saw the very few negative reviews and they sounded more like personal grudges than food reviews ... maybe there really are alternate universes out there , there certainly are some space cadets ...
Petra and her staff are wonderful ! The food has always been great, and very reasonably priced. It is sad that people feel the need to waste their time saying otherwise.
I feel so warmly towards the GFC that I recently encouraged my daughter to apply to work there she was wisely and gently told that as yet she is under age.
We shall continue to go and enjoy all that the GFC has to offer, check it out for yourselves and make up your own minds you will NOT be disappointed.
Every so often you walk into a restaurant that has it's own personality. GFC in Carleton Place certainly has that and more. When you are in Carleton Place and want an excpetional meal, GFC is the place to go. The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is fun.
The breakfasts are the best with traditional favourites and an eclectic mix of offerings that make this place second to none.
The seating area is a small footprint so if you want to go for breakfast get there early or call and reserve.
If you are looking for a quick "2 eggs and toast" this isn't the place for you. They take the time to make great food and so if you expect your meal in five minutes, go to one of the many greasy spoons where food quality is less of a concern.
If you want great food and a fun, light atmosphere and an opportunity to chat over GOOD coffee before your meal arrives, GFC is the place to go!
It's hard to imagine the earlier mean-spirited review of this wonderful restaurant. The food is excellent even for a long time ovo-lacto-vegetarian. The proprietress is always there to cook and oversee this delightful establishment. There is a seriously dedicated clientele. The service never disappoints. Don't believe it? Try to get in for Sunday lunch without a reservation. Try the scones!
O.k. real2reid you obviously have a personal problem with the restaurant and your whining has nothing to do with how good the food is! The food is awesome the atmosphere is peaceful and the staff work hard! Keep up the great work and food and ignore the above mentioned!
I just happened to be in Carlton Place and found this treasure of a funky, warm , charming cafe. The food was quite fresh. The samosas are the best I have ever tasted. Can we talk deserts? Great selection. My very tough to please in- laws were dazzeled by the ambiance and diversified selections of tasty morsals.The young gal that I think is the owner appears to put her heart and soul into repeated business and word of mouth. Iwill return return to Carlton Place for the Brunch.The name should be the Great Food Company.

Food you can not compare! The ingredients of all dishes are fresh and the proof is in the taste! Yes their hummus is amazing and the owner's desserts will blow your mind. As a natural nutritionist , I can assure you ,while buying local and organic is how we shop I am quite sure that supplying a restaurant such as this with local garlic must be impossible! This town needs more of THE GOOD FOOD CO., keep up the great work and the thank you for the fresh alternative menu!
All in it was aceptable but the waitress and maybe the owner was telling me that garlic was a $1 per pound bag of cloves from China, the waffles are no name Sobey's and it seems coconut mik and sweet and sour store bought samosa sauce goes into almost eveything as flavouring, so you decide for yourself.
Do yourself a favour and go to this restaurant. Weekend breakfasts are unbelievably fantastic. It's a small place, so avoid disappointment and make reservations. You won't be sorry. In a town that desperately needs some class on a dying main street, this establishment delivers with flair and great taste.

As the name suggests, the food is really, quite good. Simple, fresh, healthful, delicious. No other restaurant in Carleton Place can beat The Good Food Company for good eats.
Furthermore, you can tell the quality of this restaurant by two simple things. First, the smell of the air when you walk in. Second, the cleanliness of their washroom. The Good Food Company is a winner before even tasting what they have to offer. It is obviously a place that is important to a lot of people. The owners and employees truly enjoy what they are doing, the locals are proud to have such a tasty spot in their town, and those passing through are always impressed - and always vow to come back. I get a wonderful feeling from the homey atmosphere and the upbeat nature of the staff, I go every time I am in town.
The atmosphere was lovely and inviting; great selection for brunch, lots of healthy choices...service was on the slow side...but friendly.
We would visit again...be sure to not be in a hurry. :)
Can't say enough about this place. Quality at a reasonable price and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Great service and excellent food. Try the Huevos Rancheros for breakfast ...excellent.
You won't be disppointed! Would recommend a reservation on weekends.
