Food is always fresh and great tasting. Portions are on the large size. And if you want pie, order it before your meal, because it goes fast, and you can always take it to go like we do.
Great waitress. Good breakfast. Good coffee. Open 24/7. Good neighborhood feel. Comfortable. Got boxed lunches for Agawa train. Good sandwiches. Got turkey and ham and cheese.
West Side has been a classic meeting place for years. They food is good comfort food. Used to head there after the bars in years past.
Over the years, the servings have gotten a little smaller, and the prices have gone up. But not so much.
But like many we wish the owner would put some money back into the place... it needs a make over really really bad. It just looks so dirty!
I came here just for the poutine. I heard it was awesome. They certainly did not disappoint. The size of the protions was enough to feed several people. The choices for toppings was good too. I would recommend the poutine to anyone. It was a small place so it was busy, but the service was excellent. The waitress was very friendly and courtious. I will definitely come back when I am in town again. Hopefully soon!!!
at westside, you get what you pay for....i typically visit with many of my firends when were all lets say "not sobered up" and it suits us very well....the waitresses are very patient with us, sometimes poking fun at us and our bad habits....when were there, its usually the waitress with blonde hair and the raspy voice....maa is what we call her, but im sure she has more nicnames...overall this is THE best place to eat when all you need to do is eat....their poutine menu is great....everyone order a different one and just share....huge portions...and their breaky menu is the typical diner style....wouldnt like the sooo if this place wasnt here

It serves simple but good food with real wait staff and real hard working patrons. If you want a simple meal for a low price this is your place. If you are looking for high class anything keep on driving past.
I went their with my family for a birthday dinner and the place was disgusting. The tables had dust on them, and the service was the worst i have ever seen. I had order the fries with gravy but i was brought something different, it was basically card bored with brown water. i will never ever return to that restaurant again!!!!!
we go there all the time , waitress' name is Rhea, she knows our drinks and has them ready, she knows us well, always makes us laugh and will go there many times in the future

not impressed at all....i was very dissapointed when we walked in there with eight people and there was no one else in the restaurant and we went to pull a table over so we could all sit together and the waitress yelled at us for doing it. Very rude and not appreciated the place was dead, the food wasnt good at all i wont be going back again

The waitress was great ,really friendly and helpful .I think it was Jackie that served me she was very nice ,laughing and joking with me she was great ,her and Holly make a great team ,food was great ,fast service ,they make you feel right at home . If you want great food and great service go see the girls at the Westside Cafe
If you are looking for high class dining then this isn't the place for you. However, if you are looking for a good homestyle burger and the best poutines this is the spot. Excellent service and excellent food.

Holy lord, seriously the best poutine in town, go with the bacon cheddar poutine, crispy bacon, you can't go wrong. The place looks a little iffy, but don't let that fool you. The waitress are pretty pleasant and funny, just don't go in drunk and acting like an idiot expecting service with a smile (i think that goes without saying). One complaint, gave us a pitcher of water once that had "something" in it, every other time it's been clean.
We have gone to West Side Cafe many times, but this was the absolute worst food we have ever had. We had the bacon cheddar poutine (which had lumpy gravy, soggy, half-cooked fries and old bacon)and the baby west side burger, which had cold mushrooms, and tasteless hamburger. Very unimpressive, and not sure if we will go back anytime soon.
