Quaint little cafe with old-world-charm leaded glass windows that open to the street in summer. I have been there many times, always getting one of their breakfast meals. The service has always been quick and polite. The owner/manager was always on site and seems to take pride in good service. The place is usually pretty busy, but has a quick turn around time, so there isn't usually a wait more than a minute or two. As soon as your coffee cup starts to empty, the waitress or busser is over to fill it right back up (if you desire). It is a good old fashioned diner/greasy spoon that is great to sit back and have conversation with friends, and also great prices. Bonus, it is located close to Riverdale farms (TO's 1st zoo) which is great place (free) for kids to see animals, and near riverdale park for a game of baseball, tennis, ultimate or walking the dog. The meal is always done how you like it, and price includes coffee/tea and a small cup of OJ. Not bad at all ;) One of the most economical places to have a full meal, and unlike Yorkville restos I have never been dissatisfied with the food nor the service. The one thing they could improve on is offering more hot water for tea drinkers...we enjoy refills too! Lire plus

Fantastic food and service. Everything was fresh and very tasty. Steaks were huge and done to perfection. Chicken fingers were homemade, yummy. The best we ever had. Made a reservation online, probably a good idea, heard it was a busy spot. We were late for our reservation but they honored it. And it was packed. I had the special, can't remember the type of beef but it was one of the best hamburgers I've ever had, and the poutine was also amazing. My girl had the turkey burger and sweet potato fries and she loved it. We also had the Pickle Fries (good) as a starter and two pints of beer, bill with tip was around $80. I love beer and I love a long list of options recited to me by memory... there seem to be so many negative reviews about the Bier Markt but... it's a pub, really, and a spacious, respectable one with Great Beer at that. I was at the Esplanade location last Friday afternoon around 4pm with my husband and some friends and we had a fantastic time drinking pints of Steigl, Erdinger weissbrau, Jupiler, and sharing fondue--wish there was a ski hill nearby. I've been here often, mainly for the beer, but last Friday the atmosphere was great, really quiet and just right for a late lunch. I wish the decor was a little cozier inside. Lire plus

The waiter that sat us down was extremely nice as was the waitress serving us. The enthusiastic attitude of both of them definitely made this place having amazing service. The service is not the same at the Casey's near AMC in Scarborough. The service here was outstanding. When I crave very hot wings this is where I go. By far one of the hottest wings in town. I usually order the "death" or "armageddon" sause depending on my mood. I have noticed that the degree of how spicey the wings are can vary on any given day. My only gripe about this joint is that they have the shoe string fries & I personally like the thick cut fries to compliment my wings. As a man who has been chompin on wings for over 20 years, this place is one of my favorites. The service is decent & the place looks clean. The food was magnificent, that's the only reason we will be coming back again for sure. The atmosphere is bad: it's very dark, loud and very, very, very tight. The service isn't the greatest either. Although the waitresses are very nice, but they're in their own world sometimes walking around dreaming or changing music when customers are waiting. We've waited just for our check for about 30 minutes. I don't understand why they don't allow carry-out - they would be making tons of cash with their diamond in the kitchen. I come here every couple of weeks when I'm in the area, a good hearty breakfast served promptly and cheerfully. Can't ask for much more than that! Parking is the only drawback, the lot is quite small and if the snow is piled up it can be a tight squeeze, that's why I rated it an 8 overall. There's a convenience store a couple of doors down where you can buy a newspaper to read with your meal, always a plus for me. Lire plus

Not a bad place to get some wings and beer. We have been there a couple of times and have left happy both times. The place was very busy as there was a Leaf game on and we were seated right away and served right away. Remember, you are going to a sports bar and the food is good for a sports bar.
