Excellent Hong Kong style cafe. Best fish soup in town. I get cravings for their watercress fish soup with enoki mushrooms. You can choose toppings for your soup like pumpkin, beef brisket, lobster balls, or tofu skin. Prices are super reasonable. This place is very popular but they have enough tables so you dont have to wait more than a few minutes,if at all. They also make hotpots & HK style Western dishes. And they have bubble tea, which they can serve hot if you want. Black sesame is my fav! Lire plus

LOVE! with so many options for Chinese in Victoria, you can't go wrong with Sampan Express. If you are looking for table side service, linen, candle light, may be a bottle of wine.....etc.. this would NOT be the place for you . They aren't the best but hey.... for around 10 bucks a head you get a decent meal , I had a 3 items combo from their hot table for just $9.25 + tax. my girlfriend Linda had a wonton soup......best wonton.....said Linda. Excellent friendly staff! specifically at this location. Unlike the reviewer below( believe she has the wrong store altogether )The severs remember my orders, including the extra toppings I like , and unlike most of the other subways here in Nanaimo, aren't cheap with the toppings . I specifically drive out of my way to go to this store - usually am there when its busy around lunch, but have also gone late in the evening and although the staff has changed , they also have given good service.
