My friend took me here for dinner on Thursday. We weren't too hungry so we had some appetizers instead... I had the tuna (excellent with the zesty sauce) and my friend had the poke. The girls who work at this place are quite visually appealing and I was amused that my friend was able to keep his eyes on me. I stumbled accross Vic's Steakhouse last Friday and was more than happy I did. I was staying in the James Bay area for a week and was surprised that I hadn't heard of this gem from more people! We sat in the lounge and were served by a bartender who was charismatic and knowledgable. The service was prompt but not rushed, and we were treated to great music by a live band. I ordered the halibut, as I do not eat meat, and it was done perfectly. Very simple but flavourful at the same time. My companion ordered a steak and said it was one of the best he had experienced in Victoria so far! We shared a home made ice cream sandwich for dessert and at the end I was so full we ended up staying and enjoying the band for another cocktail. I would reccommend this restaurant to tourists and locals alike and will definitely return! Lire plus

We came here on a weeknight, for a friends birthday it was quite busy despite what we had heard. The atmosphere was very good, sort of bustling. The service was quite good as well even though they seemed very busy. The food was the winner of the day though with such a selection of appetizers it was hard to decide between snacking on selections like dungeness crab rice paper rolls, seared digby scallops and wild mushroom and goat cheese pate or going for the Entrees.. This restaurant has some of the most interesting decor I have ever seen. It looks like my vision of a mediterranean restaurant from the '70s...which makes it even funnier that this is a Thai restaurant. All that aside, the food forgives all mistakes the decor makes. They make a very decent cashew nut chicken and all of their yellow and green curry options are really good. The spring rolls are outstanding and the sauce makes them even better. Going along Broadway I have noticed the restaurant many times and finally decided to drop in for brunch to give it a go. We sat outside, we didn't mind waiting for a table there. My wife and I used to love strolling the city and ending up at the Irish Heather for a pint (or three) and some fantastic authentic pub fare. This was in their original location. Then, we had a family and it took us a while to get back but we finally got back to check out their new digs and new menu. While the beer selection is still fantastic we were disappointed in the overall vibe. The food was still good but the value took a bit of a hit from their original location. I love middle Eastern food but it's hard to find a restaurant that does it good. And my partner's a vegan and there's so much here to eat. The persian chicken plate is made from free-range chicken and smothered in a great selection of spices - i think they said 18 different ones! This is my favorite place for baklava too. Awesome home made noodles, won tons and spring rolls. I just happened upon this spot which is a little out of the way but the food was amazing. I had to ask if it was all hand made and John came out of the kitchen to chat. He was really kind and looked cool in his whites and chefs hat. He makes everything fresh on the premises.
