I remember coming here in the early 1990s and loved it then. It still has one of the best burgers in town, especially the homemade burger. They serve beer and have a TV as well. I watched the hockey playoffs while having my food. Great food, excellent customer service and hope they do not renovate as I love the classic diner look! If you have never been here, it is a must! Jenna, our server, made the experience so enjoyable! We had a retirement dinner last night. We were provided with a wonderful description of the menu. A lot of laughs. Jenna has a level 3 Sommelier course, if you are interested in Wine. She’s Greek, so loves lamb! But watch out, she’s pretty witty having a Bachelor degree Psychology. It was nice to have such a personable server. We had a lovely room to chat with our group. The food was delicious. Our retiree was provided with a free dessert. Lire plus

My boyfriend and I have visited Akasaka a few times now and have enjoyed every dining experience here. Although the owner is Chinese, he has studied in Japan and the chefs are Japanese. We agree that they serve up the best rolls in Richmond Hill. During our most recent visit here a couple of weeks ago, we enjoyed their 10 tation roll (unbelievably delicious lobster roll deep fried!), Crown Royal Roll (fois gras, eel, caviar & gold glitter), Super Rainbow (soft shell crab), and a few pieces of nigiri. Some of their rolls look questionable ('Thai' Passion, 'Korean' kim-chee roll), and being of Japanese descent, I avoided these. Thai/Korean twists should not be mixed or confused with Japanese rolls - surely they serve these to cater to Koreans and people who enjoy Thai food. We strictly stick to their rolls (and make an exception to some nigiri). Not every Japanese restaurant does well with bringing in top quality sashimi. The waiter did not bring us our dry noodle sticks which they bring to every table at no cost. We had to ask and later remind them twice. My boyfriend ordered us the green tea creme brulee for dessert as he enjoys it very much. The serving is very small, however it is quite delicious. Our bill came to approx $78 (no alcohol). The rolls are not cheap, but you pay to get top quality here. All the rolls we had were excellent - among my favourites were the 10 tation & Crown Royal rolls. If you've had them, you will understand what I mean. They are killer! The teppanyaki here is also very popular, as evidenced by the occupied tables. We however don't do teppanyaki, as you pay for the show. The food is not spectacular and if you're coming to a Japanese restaurant which is well-known for its rolls, its these items which one should stick with. Lire plus

My husband recommended this place so we decided to have brunch and try their Japanese breakfast (omurice). It's an omelette filled with fried rice and chicken Breast and a side of coleslaw; so delicious and filling. price is roughly $9-10. We also tried their polar beer (icing foam on top). The squid plate was very tasty. Our server was very friendly and gave us helpful tips. I def recommend this spot! Lire plus

They serve possibly the best szechuan/hunan Chinese food we've tasted. All dishes are unique and don't have the same generic sauces for each dish you see at other establishments. The food is very well prepared. The restaurant appears very clean with nice wait staff. Lire plus
