I'd heard about this place from several people I knew, but it was never a place that interested me. I think a big part of that was the location, in that silly little mall/office building. We went there to celebrate my fathers birthday, and my first impression was that it was nice, but a little dark. In fact my mother had to step out into the "mall" area just to read her menu. I ordered the shepherds pie (it was the cheapest on the menu and I'm not a big meat eater), as did my boyfriend. My mom ordered the chicken fried steak and my dad had the porterhouse. It took over an hour to get our food, the waitress claimed that the steak had to have some special magical way of cooking and that's why it took so long. The small of smoke and fire extinguisher told another story. When our food arrived I thought "Really? That's it?". The portion seemed so small, and the side salad was laughable. However once I started eating I really enjoyed the meal, as did my family, and in the end I wasn't even able to finish it. Then we all got free desert, some sort of cheesecake thing that was pure awesomeness. So in the end, we all really enjoyed our meals and would return again. Hopefully with a shorter wait though. Our party of two ordered a 9oz steak and shrimp fajitas. Fajitas were fantastic but steak was quite tough though cooked to order - had much better quality steak, I am thinking..We both found the gravy to be very salty and lumpy, and the steamed veggies tasted odd. Server was very friendly, helpful, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Will probably be back but would not order the steak again. Lire plus

Being a Vegan for only 10 months I find it almost impossible to eat anywhere! We went to the Old Newcastle House and I was advised to try the veggie stir-fry. I have to admit I was hesitant, it was fabulous!!! I love to cook so therefore find it hard to find food I can say I love in most places!!! The company I was with also really enjoyed their food a lot! I have to say being OCD I always tend to look at the surroundings and this place is a little gem it is extremely clean ( which I love ) and beautifully decorated. Went there with 2 friends, the host at the front door was great, smile held the door, sat us withen 4 min there was a small wait but it was dinner time. Our soccer team and parents, a party of 30+, invaded for lunch and we were really impressed with the service, the food, the atmosphere, everything was amazing! The server, Hunter, remembered everyone's names, no ones orders were mixed up, the separate bills were all correct... We spend out summers at Bobcaygeon and visit Cody's with friends and family as often as possible. Wish there was chinese food 1/2 as good available in Burlington where we spend the winter. I know Magweyers Restaurant in the Baywood Plaza in Ajax is superb. The food is so delightfully fresh and flavours that to h your pallet so gracefully. I have tried most of the menu ,and with the food and lovely service, I can only say it’s a solid 5 STAR restaurant. I would love to go on but go and try it for yourself.
