After filling up with gas, my car would not start at the pumps at the Husky station adjacent to the Fort Horseless Carriage garage, around 6 in the evening. I was attempting to get on a ferry back to Victoria, but that plan had to be abandoned, along with my car at the garage. The attendant, David, allowed me to push the car in front of the bay doors for the night. I returned at 8 the next morning where I met Gavin, one of the mechanics at Fort Horseless Carriage. Fred Automotive gets my definite thumbs up for perservernce and integrity. They were recommended to me by another shop that had closed down and it proved to be a sound recommendation. Low cost garage helped me a great deal. They pushed my truck by hand for a block when I was in trouble from out of town . Highly recommend. Expert diagnosis. We came in thinking we needed a new transmission or atleast major work done to it because it was kicking very hard on the downshift 2-1 on our 2004 jaguar (6hp26 transmission). He roadtested our vehicle and said not to spend any money on it right now and it should be fine for another few years. He said spending money on changing fluid or any other service would not help, and it is from some internal wear.Extremely honest and didnt even charge or upsell.
