Was at Blue Mountain over the Thanksgiving Long Weekend and came across this place. Had read a couple reviews online and was apprehensive of the place but some friends said to try it myself, so I did. The service was great and the food was better than most in the Village at Blue Mountain. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, everyone was very helpful and the prices were reasonable, given the resort environment. I wouldn't hesitate to return and/or tell my friends to check the place out. We went back later in the evening and had a great time dancing and kicking back, as well... Great place all around. Interesting and varied new menu items highlight a new season in this well-established eatery. The three-course Friday night special I had was truly wonderful, exciting, flavourful food. A mesclum mix was restrained by slices of cucumber, sliced lengthwise and curved to form a holder for the leaves, the whole drizzled with a piquant apple-based vinagrette. The pork tenderloin entree was three large pieces stuffed with a savoury dressing that was so tasty and plentiful that while I finished the pork, I took the rest of the stuffing home. Dessert was a chocolate/caramel custard in a crunchy pastry shell, topped with fresh strawberries and blackberries. Portion size gave good value for the price which was reasonable for the quality. Presentation throughout was as artistic as any classy place in Toronto but the outstanding things about the meal, to my mind, were the number of homemade items (dressing, stuffing, pudding, pastry) and the commitment to flavour everywhere. In July 2014 I tasted for the first time gelato at Maria'. The product is well worth the price as it is a bit more than ice cream but so much better for you. The flavors were all so tasty and the owner was very gracious and friendly. Highly recommend Yes she is off the beaten track a bit but if your looking for a treat this is the place to go. Lire plus
