We felt sorry for this restaurant when it opened as we were certain that it would fail - simply due to its location. It hasn't. It has thrived. And after eating there, we know why.
I have lived in Japan for many years. I have been to most Japanese restaurants in town. Sushi Ya is the best sushi restaurant I have been to in Canada.
You can tell the difference simply in the quality of their product compared to their competitors. The tuna is of the highest quality (you can tell). Their Tempura is cooked properly & is not overbreaded like at other restaurants in town. Their Yaki Udon is fantastic. And their rolls are simply superb.

Gino's Kingston great place to eat and the staff is really great to deal with. I was in Brockville recently visiting family, we ordered from the Gino's there, i sincerely hope you are not affiliated with them. Complete opposite of Gino's in Kingston. The service was very slow, the food was un eatable and when my cousin called to complain the manager was pleasant but was really not interested in what we had to say. Ginos Kingston rocks Brockville Ginos sucks.

We attended a birthday party here and the food was outstanding! There were over 40 people in attendance and we all raved about the food. It was well priced, good portions, and great service! I will definitely be returning here. Love this place!!

We arrived in Kingston for a hockey tournament and searched for a restaurant that was able to accommodate a group of 40, half of which were kids. The owner together with his staff welcomed our team and did an amazing job. The kids had a great time, the service was the best we've seen from any east side Mario's, and they did a great job on the food. Hats off to the staff and the owner for going above and beyond! We'll be back for sure.

Best Fish and Chips that I have ever tasted..
I have travelled quite extensively across Canada and the U.S. and they serve the BEST here.. Large portions [dont order two pieces of fish as one is enough] Very unfair to get a 1 star rating because the fellow wants more salt on his order..
I have been coming here for over 20 years and I guarantee that you will never find better.... I live 67 km away, but go out of my way to come here….

Breakfast dining at John's transports you well back into the last century when folks had significantly different service and culinary expectations. Don't miss the experience.
As I entered John shouted a hearty "Sit anywhere and I'll be with you in a minute." greeting from the open kitchen in the rear of his restaurant. So I sat at the chrome-trimmed counter and the few nearby customers nodded their welcomes to me. John promptly brought the menu and my coffee. "If you want a refill, help yourself.", he said pointing to the coffee brewer on the back bar. I like this. It's like being transported back into Mayberry, West Virginia. Only Sheriff Andy and Deputy Barney haven't arrived for their morning coffees yet.
My scrambled eggs were perfectly done, light and fluffy with just the right amount of moistness. The accompanying sausages were lightly grilled. Just browned, not deep fried that renders the casing nearly inedible as most others places seem to do in the name of culinary expediency these days.
A customer from further down the counter strikes up a conversation with me and then takes out his wallet to show me the picture of his first car, a 1954 Ford. What do you have in your wallet?
John is 85 and in apparent good health. But go to this little glimpse of the past and revel in the experience. It may not be available to you much longer.
If it's not too busy, ask and John will share some details of his lifelong career of serving others carefully, charmingly, honestly and completely to the very best of his ability. How many other restaurants can do that?
John's prices are embarrassingly low while the experience is rich beyond all expectations. I didn't want to leave.

First time there recently with my boyfriend. Had a $10 gift card that we received in the mail from them. You save $10 if you spend $30 and it was good on weekends. We walked in and the place was very busy. But we asked for a booth and got one right away. The waitress was very nice and took good care of us. The food arrived within minutes. The food was amazing! Manager checked in with us twice to make sure everything was good. Would definitely recommend to others.

Been going here for every other day for the better part of two years. Staff is very friendly, and I have never had any problems with my food. Despite the drive-thru line often being full, they are usually pretty quick to get the orders out.

Whenever visiting my dad in Kingston, we go to this place for Sunday breakfast every time. He goes most Sundays and I know why.
The wait staff is friendly, fast and efficient.
The food is plentiful, served hot and there is a non-stop filling up of coffee! Prices are very reasonable for the portions.
Be warned! This is a VERY popular place, so expect a delay when you get there because a lot of people are regulars and they too have to wait. Once you are seated, however, you should be satisfied with the overall experience!

Visited twice in the last 10 days and LOVED IT. Once was a Saturday afternoon 12:30ish and it was very crowded but lucked into a seat once the food was ready. More recently was a weekday 4:30ish, much quieter but still a few patrons. Either way, food is made to order - might take 5-10 mins. but worth the wait and fun to watch.
We have had a total of 2 little burgers and 3 regular (double patty) cheeseburgers so far and they are flavourful, well cooked but tender, so good you can (and want to) taste the meat itself. Buns are soft with a nice chew, sesame seeded. We kept it simple with lettuce, relish, pickles, ketchup but you can go crazy with wide selection of toppings.
Fries are in peanut oil, gorgeous brown and slightly crisp but fluffy inside. Huge portion even for regular, as others have said. Nice to see Coke products in the machines and Heinz ketchup for fries.
Great spirit among the staff, focused and attentive and seem to be happy to be there, which must be a compliment because the kitchen is wide open for customers to watch the whole scene.
The place was kept very clean. There is nothing frozen on site, which explains the fresh taste.
Very simple, straightforward menu. No need to consider combos and deals, it's burgers, add drink or fries if you want or not.
Keep up the great work and please consider a second location in west end Kingston!
